Mozhi - Language

"உடல் மண்ணுக்கு உயிர் தமிழுக்கு", an impressive phrase in Tamil which means "The body to soil, Life to Tamil". As a native Tamil speaker I can feel the emotion behind that lovely phrase. After all, the love for ones own mother tongue. Acquaintance towards various languages play a vital role in most of our lives, neither do I spare.

The travel begins from my birthplace Vaniyambadi where I learnt some Hindi in school, then in Tiruvannamalai where I learnt Telugu from my college mates, followed by my work place Bangalore and Ernakulum where I used to the Kannada & Malayalam resp., and lastly in Germany with German :-)

Learning languages is certainly fun, both for learner & listener :-) There are a few memorable moments in the process of learning. Just like "Mujae Hindi maalum nahi hei", Telling someone that I don’t know Hindi in Hindi, or learning how to say "I love you" in different languages. or just learning some bad words.

In my opinion, learning different languages is good, especially if you are in a different land. This will certainly bring you closer to people and they do love you for the effort that you put to learn their language...!!
