Mission Mid-East

Oasis – as defined it is an area of vegetation in a hot and dry desert. Keeping aside my book knowledge, this morning has brought me a chance to experience to live in an Oasis. The place is called Kuwait. The land of palm trees, dates, tea, camel and most importantly OIL – the elixir of life. The blood of Kuwait is the oil, which obviously transforms this barren sand into Gold. The land of enormous opportunities, a God fearing conservative society that accepts other cultures to some agreeable extent. I am happy to be in this Arabian soil for a purpose.

(Cruising over snowclad Mount Alps)

The trip was planned in a relatively short time and after bidding bye to my family and loved ones. I began my journey in the cold afternoon heading for warmer days. Emirates flight from Munich to Kuwait was good, amidst severe thunderstorms and a thorough striptease in security gates. While floating high skies, I was taking in the blistering clouds through my window, really a spectacular view. Just like emotions of an unspoken heart.

(Can someone understand this? Perhaps heading to nowhere)

Landed in Kuwait at 2:45am local time, warm breeze 27’c I started walking down from the airplane along with several migrant workers from India especially from Kerala, Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh. Most of them were returning from their holidays with their yellow cloth bags in hand and wearing Hawaii slippers, their life hardly changed.

I am pleased to be received by a group of people from the Kuwait Engineers Association. Indeed a surprise welcome arrangement, nevertheless a warm welcome. Followed by visa approval, immigration and entry clearance all done by them in just 30 minutes, while I was chit chatting with fellow engineers from Nigeria and Mauritius.

A mallu chetan drove me to the hotel in downtown Kuwait, talking with him testified my Malayalam skills before he started to talk in Tamil. A good and decent room, by the time I hit my bed it was 4am. Switched off the AC and thoroughly enjoyed the warm temperature which I missed it for days.
