Telangana - the hottest news in Indian media. Series of political crises that Andhra Pradesh underwent in the recent months, from YSR’s death, finding new CM and now it’s Telangana.
Looking back in the pages of Indian history, after independence the central government decided to form new states and define its boundaries. These new states were formed based on the regional language, the best entity that is being chosen to divide states, as India is more diverse than the present day EU.
It has to be noted that Telangana and Andhra share the same common language. Now let us understand if there are any other differences between Andhra and Telangana regions. During British-India Andhra was part of a colonial Madras Presidency. Telangana was part of Nizam’s empire and that time level of education and development of this region were not as good as the Madras State. Hence People from Telangana were resistant to merge with Andhra state as they feared they would lose jobs to them. Even cultural differences too exist there; Telangana bore influences of north India due to Mughal rulers, therefore the emphasis on festivals are also different.
If there are so many differences and hindrances to development, why there was no intensified movement to fight for the cause? Like the anti-Hindi revolt in TN.!! Yeah there were strong movements in AP, but the politicians behind these movements & parties involved were loose in their manifestations and often their agitations were short lived until they get their political and monetary needs quenched, which they continued doing/earning for years. Politicians and parties found fiddling between pro and anti Telangana especially during elections.
In the past, where ever the Telangana motion intensifies, people from Telangana region were given some perks, significantly in two occasions they were made the chief minister of AP (M. Channa Reddy & P V Narasimma Rao) and many others.
Anyways Central Govt. has nodded positive for a new state of Telangana which comprises of 10 districts and most importantly the IT city of Hyderabad. Hyderabad, which is within the Telangana region, is a bone of contention between votaries of Telangana and those against it. The issue of AP capital pops here, the candidate cities in race are Tirupathi, Vijayawada and Kurnool.
My vote goes for Tirupathi, not because of its close proximity to TN & my home town, but also the amount of developments the city underwent in the recent decades make it a promising prospective capital city. This bifurcation will certainly benefit people of both the states by,
- Improved focus on people of Telangana, whom they were considered to be neglected for years.
- Decentralization of power, resources, administration adds more focus on the states development and identity.
- Improved food production & distribution, health care, employment, education, infrastructure, local administration, transportation and sanitation.
- Formation of new tier 2 and tier 3 cities and better focus on developing level two existing cities.
- Extensive autonomy and a complete democracy
And many more.
To all my dear readers, it is just my thoughts on AP’s current situation. It is purely my view & thoughts, hence not an exhaustive report, so kindly apologise if it hurt your sentiments & feelings. I dream the state of AP and entire India be integrated, without any bloodshed, violence, act of terror and living in complete harmony and appreciating love and peace.
- God bless India -
